My mom was visiting recently and throughout our mother-daughter shopping time I noticed something interesting. The vast majority of the merchants I made a purchase at asked me if I'd want to get on their subscriber list. That is very intelligent.

Nevertheless, the WAY where they did this made an impact in my response. I said NO to the majority of them because they just didn't ensure it is alluring for me. Suddenly I WANTED to be on that subscriber list, especially when the salesman explained to me it came with specific benefits, including early notice on new arrivals, an individual shopping service, and private trunk shows.

And guess what happens? I'd have also paid-to engage in that - to be regarded as a VIP.

I share this never to impress you, but to impress upon you that in industry (yes, *yours*) there's a percentage of people who will gladly pay MORE - much more - for a greater degree of support or treatment.
